A man filming outside a building had his peaceful recording session interrupted when two women came out to ask him to stop. When he refused, they called the cops. The first officer who arrived was less than friendly, but the man calmly explained he was just exercising his rights.
Turning to the officer’s supervisor for clarification, the supervisor went inside to speak with the building owner. After confirming the man had every right to film in a public space – just like security cameras – the supervisor cleared everything up.
The man was allowed to continue, but he wasn’t thrilled with the first officer’s attitude. “I appreciate the supervisor,” he said, “but that first officer could’ve handled it better.” In the end, it was a win for free speech and the right to film in public.
