From rags to riches: How Karoline Leavitt’s husband built a multi-million dollar property business

The spouse of White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Nicholas Riccio, has shared his remarkable life journey, illustrating his transformation from financial struggle to becoming a multi-millionaire.

Nicholas Riccio’s story mirrors the classic rags-to-riches narrative. Despite being 32 years older than his wife, he has demonstrated that age is merely a number in the pursuit of success. In a candid interview with a local newspaper in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, the 59-year-old real estate mogul recounted his journey from homelessness to amassing a substantial portfolio of multi-million-dollar properties. During his conversation with the Portsmouth Herald, he reflected on his difficult upbringing, which included financial hardships, the effects of his parents’ divorce, and the loss of his mother to cancer.

At the age of 18, Nicholas left his family home and relied on the generosity of friends, often staying on their couches while striving to make ends meet. He reminisced about those challenging times, stating, “When I was 19 or 20, I would call my friends to come over just to watch a game so I could take a shower.”

After graduating from Alvirne High School in Hudson in 1983, Nicholas attended Plymouth State University. Upon completing his degree, he enrolled in a real estate course in 1990, where he discovered his passion for the industry.

He began his career by taking risks in house flipping, gradually building his wealth. During this phase, he made the bold decision to borrow money, sometimes at high-interest rates, to fuel his ventures.Since that time, Nicholas has established a remarkable real estate empire, which includes his companies Riccio Enterprises LLC and its subsidiary, Nautical Beach Properties. According to reports from the Economic Times, Nicholas’s strategic investments and tireless dedication to the real estate sector have resulted in an impressive net worth of $6 million.

Karoline, who is 27 years old, met Nicholas through a mutual friend at a political gathering. Although the details of their romance are mostly kept private, the couple revealed their engagement in December 2023. Soon after, they commemorated their marriage in an intimate ceremony. In July 2024, Karoline welcomed their first child, a son named Nicholas Robert.
