A pregnant taxi driver picked up a homeless man from the side of the road and took him to the hospital.

One by one, sleek black luxury cars came to a stop, quietly, like hunters lying in wait for their target.

The first to exit was a man dressed in a black suit, equipped with a discreet earpiece, who glanced up at the balcony of the third-floor apartment.

He approached the door confidently, without knocking, exuding the demeanor of someone who is certain of their destination.

Lidia had just poured herself a cup of tea and was nearly spilling it when she heard a brief yet assertive knock on the door.

In a soft voice, she inquired, “Who is it?”

“Good afternoon, Lidia, Mrs. Please do not be alarmed. I am with Mr. Andrei’s security agency, specifically, Mr. Andrei Rădulescu.”

With her heart racing, Lidia opened the door to find a formidable man with a composed yet polite demeanor standing before her. He discreetly gestured, stating:

“I need to see Mr. Rădulescu. Right now.”

“Rădulescu? I don’t understand. I just took him to the hospital myself.”

“We are aware of everything, ma’am. That is precisely why you must come with us.”

A shiver ran down Lidia’s spine. With minimal hesitation, she grabbed her coat and followed him. The car ride was enveloped in silence, the only sounds being the rhythmic patter of rain against the windows and the subtle attachment of a firearm to the front seatbelt.

After an hour’s journey, they arrived at an expansive estate with iron gates and dimly lit paths.

“The key is in your brand-new, fully furnished hybrid taxi. There are ten thousand euros on the card. You will receive the transfer today.”

“This is merely a small part of what I have planned for you. You will serve as my personal chauffeur. Indeed.”

“Three times your current salary.” Furthermore, your child will have everything they need upon arrival.

Lidia was at a loss for words. Despite the tears welling in her eyes, she felt an unexpected sense of tranquility, as if she had made the right choice.

In a world that had lost touch with humanity, this was a gesture of genuine compassion.
