Mary Trump—niece of Donald Trump and longtime critic—says the U.S. should brace for “uniquely dangerous times” during her uncle’s second term.
She fears Trump may try to stay beyond the constitutionally limited two terms. In a Telegraph interview she said Trump “has in mind” becoming “president for life,” adding: “It’s not about whether he’ll run; it’s about whether he’ll leave.”
Earlier this year the 79-year-old Trump hinted at “loopholes” that might let him seek a third term, though he claimed he doesn’t “believe in using loopholes.” Mary calls the idea alarming and urges Americans to “show up in different ways” to defend democratic norms, labeling her uncle the “logical conclusion to 40 years of Republican degradation.”
