Multiple people injured in 7-car crash on I-5
PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) – A terrifying seven-vehicle crash on I-5 Tuesday afternoon left multiple people injured, including two in critical condition, according to Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue (TVFR).
The crash happened around 4 p.m. on the northbound Nyberg Street off-ramp. Initial reports indicated one car had flipped onto its roof, trapping the driver inside.
When Tualatin police arrived, they discovered a second person also trapped—this time inside a vehicle lying on its side.
Firefighters quickly jumped into action, using specialized struts and shoring equipment to stabilize the wreckage and rescue both victims. The two critically injured individuals were rushed to local hospitals for emergency treatment.
Four others involved in the crash suffered minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.
Oregon State Police are now investigating what caused the devastating collision.
