Tragic Accident Claims the Lives of Three Dedicated Teachers in Nayarit
A heartbreaking accident this morning on the Tepic–Mazatlán freeway near the San Blas intersection, close to El Jicote, has left three women dead and one man injured. All were occupants of a red Nissan Versa, which reportedly veered into the wrong lane and collided head-on with a refrigerated three-ton truck.
The impact was devastating. The three women in the car—identified as Elva Karina “N,” Irma Leticia “N,” and Yolanda Leticia “N”—died instantly at the scene. All three were teachers from the Rosamorada Technical Secondary School and originally from the municipalities of Santiago Ixcuintla and Rosamorada. Their loss is a devastating blow to the local education community, where they were deeply respected and known for their commitment to their students.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Gilberto “N,” is believed to be the school’s director. He sustained injuries and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash, but early reports suggest driver error may have played a role. The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the tight-knit educational circles of Nayarit, where these educators were more than just teachers—they were mentors, community leaders, and cherished members of their schools.
As families, students, and colleagues mourn their loss, tributes are pouring in from across the region. Flags at schools in the area are flying at half-mast, and grief counselors have been made available to students and staff affected by the tragedy.
This incident is a stark reminder of how quickly lives can change and of the silent heroes—teachers—who dedicate themselves daily to shaping young minds. Their legacy will live on through every student they inspired.
