Three children have been rescued by authorities following a shocking investigation that revealed they had been kept locked inside their home for four years by parents suffering from an extreme form of COVID-related anxiety — often referred to as “COVID syndrome.”
According to police and child protective services, the children had not left the house since the beginning of the pandemic. They had no access to school, medical care, or contact with the outside world. When found, they were in poor physical and emotional condition, showing signs of neglect and severe developmental delays.
The parents reportedly believed that the world outside remained extremely dangerous and that any interaction with others would result in illness or death. This uncontrollable fear, fueled by misinformation and prolonged isolation, led them to confine their children in a way that authorities described as both illegal and deeply harmful.
Child welfare agencies have taken custody of the children, and a full investigation is underway. The parents are now facing multiple charges, including child neglect and abuse.
